Tablets are becoming bigger – whether we like it or not

After the fair in Berlin, the Apple conference and the forthcoming debut of the device from ZTE, we can see that the tablets have begun to increase their size.
Tablets do not grow, but since yesterday. The first models have screens with a diagonal of about thirteen inches already debuted in 2012 and was advertised as a family proposals. They were to be made to ensure entertainment to every member of the household. This vision, however, not accepted. His forces tried to even the Lenovo, which at CES 2013 in Las Vegas showed 27-inch IdeaCentre Horizon, which a year later released the second generation. You can not forget about the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2 13 ", which debuted in October 2014 of the year and due to its size can safely replace a laptop.

Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon Table PC / photo. Manufacturer
Along the way there were a few more or less interesting tablet with large diagonals (even tested our Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 "), and the most recognizable is perhaps the Panasonic Toughpad, which since its launch waited many variants. However, this equipment for real professionals, which costs quite a lot and can afford to him only wealthy individuals or companies. At this year's IFA, Alcatel OneTouch presented Xess – the tablet features a 17.3-inch display, which goes far beyond accepted standards. Currently, you can meet the most models with a screen diagonal of seven and a maximum of eleven inches. It does not matter whether they operate under the control of Google Android or Windows. Another proof of my thesis is the announcement of Samsung Galaxy View, which will offer potential buyers the opportunity to work on a 18.4-inch touch screen. Do not forget also about the model running Microsoft, which will have a screen size of twelve inches. As seen in the last three years there were tablets with above average sized display, but they were models of specific and targeted at specific recipient. This year brought us but something that made the increase in diagonal screen tablet gave actually felt. And it's all thanks to the American concern Apple, which at the beginning of September this year, Apple unveiled the iPad Pro. This is so far the largest and most powerful tablet offering from Apple. Equipment has almost trzynastocalowy display with a resolution of 2732 × 2048 pixels. There is probably a proposition for Smith, and more for those seeking efficient and productive (or, at any rate) mobile. iPad Pro also works well in the hands of artists can serve as a board paper, as well as a poorer alternative to MackBooka.  And this is not the end. In early October, Microsoft is expected to present the Surface Pro 4. According to unconfirmed rumors, Windows 10 is to be presented on the display with a diagonal of fourteen inches. So over the existing variant (Surface Pro 3) the size of the matrix increases by two inches. It's pretty much, and if information is confirmed thatMicrosoft will erase the boundary between Ultrabookami and hybrids. We are waiting.

Elephone Vowney with Windows 10 Mobile, 5.5-Inch Quad HD Display

The smartphone is expected to arrive on October 10

Chinese company Elephone isn't well known outside the Mainland, but its products offer a great price / performance ratio.
Unfortunately, Elephone is not to be completely trusted when it announces new products because the final specs might be changed by the time they are launched on the market.
The same goes for its top-of-the-line series called Vowney, which is supposed to include Elephone's flagship smartphones.
Apparently, the company announced plans to launch a high-end version that will run either Android 5.0 Lollipop or Windows 10 Mobile.
It's called Elephone Vowney and it's set to hit shelves on October 10 for just $300, but it might be delayed since this has already happened a few times in the last couple of months.
The Vowney is supposed to pack a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.
Elephone initially stated that the cheaper version of the smartphone that will pack 3GB of RAM will be powered by a quad-core Intel processor. This variant would either run Windows 10 Mobile or Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Specs are a bit confusing right now

The second version would pack 4GB of RAM and an octa-core MediaTek MT6795 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. However, this more expensive version of the Vowney would only run Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Not long ago, Elephone announced that both versions of the Vowney would be equipped with octa-core MediaTek MT6795 processors.
Other highlights of the Elephone Vowney include 20.7-megapixel Sony camera with IMX230 sensor, autofocus, LED flash and 4K video recording, 64GB of internal memory that can be further expanded via microSD card slot.
Also, Elephone confirmed the smartphone would be powered by a 3,800 mAh battery, but then backtracked and said the Vowney would pack a 4,200 mAh battery inside.
There will be an 8-megapixel camera in the front for selfies and video calls. Elephone Vowney is supposed to offer both 4G LTE support and dual-SIM support.

Amazon Introduces New Fire Tablets & TV

And WTF is this claim about?
NewFire6inchClaim
It’s a shitty US$49.99 tablet with an eye-killing 1024 x 600 screen! How can it even be mentioned in the same sentence as an iPad Air? It’s misleading to compare it to something so much larger!
See the full line-up after the break.
gen8-graphicJL-660x-V3._V310912454_
I never expected Amazon to do a 4:3 tablet. These tablets are all about watching video and playing games.
Other than noting the pricing slays the ambitions of China-branded tablets to enter the U.S. market, these tablets have no appeal to me.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 with two systems and Intel Atom x5-Z8500

Coming Back rumors on the launch pad tablet Xiaomi Mi 2 that work is under the control of the two systems – Windows 10, and Google's Android.
I come to this very skeptical but still something can be on top of things. Perhaps Xiaomi hopes to arouse the interest of a wider audience of potential buyers or simply put up a fight with local manufacturers, who for a long time propose two systems on one device. Apparently Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 is to use the Intel Atom processor Z8500 x5-and 4GB of RAM LPDDR4. If so will it actually have here the same connection as Teclast X98 Pro, which recently wrote to the tabletManiaKu. The image in the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 will be presented on the display diagonal of 10.1 ", and the power supply battery of 6000 mAh. MicroHDMI output, USB port hepatitis C, as well as a microSD card reader are other parameters of the upcoming updates from Xiaomi. Technical specification Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 therefore looks very promising and more importantly much different from previous reports. Concerned, there is nothing else but await further news.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0: Screen Roulette

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0: Screen Roulette

This weekend I tried as many Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 as I could find in NYC stores. That’s basically Best Buy and Barnes & Noble (Staples isn’t stocking the S2 yet, at least that I’ve found).
Yes, it is possible to get one with a screen that stays primarily white.
But then there are some that turn absolutely sickly blue when the screen is tilted even at a shallow angle.
Whether a screen turns blue or not doesn’t depend on any Display Settings. It’s the screen hardware itself, not any software setting, that creates the blue.
I tried to find a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 for a screen comparison. That was a failure. Samsung has done a very good job of purging that tablet from stores. Maybe they were afraid of such a comparison?
Anyway, I grabbed a Dell Venue 8 7000/7840 and BAM! Its screen (Super AMOLED? AMOLED? Dell now says just OLED) goes blue when tilted too.
I then tried the new Samsung Galaxy Note 5. That screen — at least of the oneunit I tried — stayed primarily white. It also seemed like an entirely different kind of screen to me. I can’t put it into words, but I really think there’s a vast difference in the construction of the Tab S 8.0 and Note 5 screens — and I think it goes beyond the number and size of pixels of each screen.
As for the sharpness of the S2 screen, I have no complaints. Even on the 8.0,Surface Japan text is plenty sharp to read at its tiny size without pinch-zoom or cropping the page.
And the speed of the tablet is still astonishing after the Asus ZenPad S 8.0 “Basic” and the Insignia Flex Elite 7.85 — two tablets I also used this weekend before the tab S 8.0. (I still can’t find an Asus ZenPad S 8.0 “Pro” version anywhere in NYC.)
I don’t know what’s going on with the quality variation of the 8.0’s screen.
Is this a First Batch problem? Or deficiency in QA? Or are they coming from two different plants, one of which is producing sub-optimal screens that are somehow getting into the sales channel?
If I ultimately decide on this tablet — no final decision has been made yet (and I could have made everyone here dizzy with posts of my infinite shifts in decision-making, so you’ve all been spared that), I still need to try the Asus ZenPad S 8.0 “Pro” and the new iPad Mini 4 — I just hope I don’t wind up having to go back and forth to a store complaining about the blueness of the damn screen until I get one that works properly!

No.1 S6i 4G, Galaxy S6 Clone Comes with Android 5.1

imageJust a few weeks after Samsung announced its Galaxy S6 flagship with a beautiful revamped design, No.1 announced a clone of their own, called as the No.1 S6i. Now, almost 5 months after the announcement, the company is back with an upgrade, the No.1 S6i 4G. As the name suggests, the highlight of this phone with be LTE connectivity in a beautiful design.
Most of the specifications remain the same, except for its slightly larger display. The No.1 S6i 4G comes with a 5.1-inch display instead of 5-inch on its predecessor. The resolution remains the same as before, i.e. 1280 x 720p. Under the hood, there’s the 64-bit MT6735 quad-core chip clocked at 1.3GHz. Thats enough for your everyday needs. There’s 1GB of RAM on board and 16GB of storage which unfortunately is not upgradable.
Given that its LTE connectivity is the biggest upgrade, here’s the supported networks.
GSM:850/900/1800/1900MHz
EDGE:850/900/1800/1900MHz
WCDMA:BAND1(2100MHz), BAND2(1900MHz),BAND5( 850MHz)
TD-SCDMA:BAND34(2010MHz)/39(1880MHz)
TDD-LTE:BAND38(2600MHz)/39(1900MHz)/40(2300MHz)/41B(2500MHz)
FDD-LTE:BAND1(2100MHz)/3(1800MHz)/4(1700MHZ)/7(2600MHZ)/20(800MHz)
The phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS and comes with a decent 2800 mAh battery. As for the body, its quite thin measuring just 6.8 mm in thickness. Its weighs only about 155 grams. At the back, there’s a 13MP camera while up front, you’ll find a 5MP shooter.
The company is yet to announce pricing and availability details, but stay tuned for more info.

Xiaomi, HTC & Meizu To Use Helio X20 10-core chip, First Phones Coming in October

mediatek-heliop10-announced-01In the past couple of months, we have seen plenty of instances where the powerful 10 core Helio X20 has come up on benchmarking websites. Unsurprisingly, almost every time, the chip’s performance was impressive. We already know that both Meizu and HTC are likely to use this new chip on their upcoming flagship smartphones, but now, Taiwanese Media reports that even Xiaomi is working on a deca core smartphone. Further, the report states that the first smartphones powered by Helio X20 could debut as early as October 2015.
While Xiaomi may not be the first one to use this deca core chip, it is said that the company has at least one machine with this chip that’s being tested right now. Even Xiaomi is expected to release this new handset sometime before the end of this year. From the previous leaks and the timing of the launch of the new chip, its likely that the report is talking about the upcoming Xiaomi Mi5 flagship.

As for the performance of the chip, its expected to be better, or atleast at par with Exynos 7420. The MT6797 Helio X20 chip is based on the 20nm process, with the worlds first Tri-Cluster architecture. The chip will come with 10 cores, with two Cortex A72 and eight Cortex A53 ones. Other specs include support for LTE Cat. 6 network and dual carrier aggregation.
It is said that Meizu’s upcoming flagship, the Meizu Pro 5 will have a low version which will be powered by Helio X20. The higher version is reportedly powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7420. Even Xiaomi Mi5 could have two different versions, with one of them powered by the Helio X20 chip.
So, what do you think? Can Mediatek take over the premium high-end market with its new deca-core Helio X20?
